Submarine Outfall Placement: Offshore of Sosua, Dominican Republic
Government of the Dominican Republic
Ocean Surveys conducted an oceanographic and geophysical data collection program in near shore waters off of Sosua, Dominican Republic, to support a joint project between the Dominican government and the World Bank. The project required a detailed investigation of the oceanographic and geophysical environment for a small diameter submarine wastewater effluent outfall.

This investigation included the collection of oceanographic data (salinity-temperature-density profiles and currents), bathymetry, side scan sonar imagery, and underwater video.
The data supported conceptual design and route selection for the submarine outfall and a mathematical model of the discharge.
